Church of St. Martin
Piazza S. Martino

Architecture: Designed by P. Ambrogio Mazenta (16th - 17th century) of the Congregation of the Barnabite Fathers, who followed the construction in the first half of the 18th century. Single nave with side chapels. The lower part of the belltower reveals the Romanesque structure of the previous church. Paintings: magnificent example of the art of Giovan Carlo Aliberti (18th century, Giovanni Battista Laveglia, architectural prospect painter), the dome (The glory of St. Martin), the Biblical scenes in the chapels. Paintings by Michelangelo Pittatore (19th century): The Sacred Heart, St. Lucy, St. Apollonia. By Giorgio Szoldaticsz (19th century) the painting of the Barnabite saints. Sculpture: St. Martin (on the facade) by C. Francesco Rista (18th century). Sacristy: wood panels by Antonio Manzone (18th century). Opposite the parish church: Church (deconsecrated) of the Confraternity of St. Michael the Archangel (18th century), ancient Pilgrins' hospice. Attached to the church of St. Martin, the monastery of the Barnabites, of the same period.

Stronghold of the Roeros of Monteu
16, Via Roero

Next to the church of St. Martin. The medieval structure (13th century) may be seen in the lower part of the tower, the last three storeys of which have been demolished. In 1804 Pope Pius VII stopped here on his journey to France to crown Napoleon Emperor of France

De Regibus Tower
Corner of Via Roero/Corso Alfieri

This is the only example in Asti of an octagonal tower (13th century). It was part of the recidence of the Ghibelline De Regibus family, two of whose coats of arms are visible on the facade in Corso Alfieri square of the Tre Re.

Stronghold of the Roeros of Settime and Mombarone
33, Via Roero

Medieval structures heavily restored in the 18th century; there remain many walled up arches on the Via Malabayla side.
