Houses of the Pelletta Family
Corner of Via Natta/Via Milliavacca
The medieval structure may be seen in the arches of some of the windows. The property of the Pellettas (bankers in the Aosta Valley and Savoy in the 13th and 14th centuries) is distinguished by the fine marble plaque depicting a rampant lion, the family's emblem. Count Gerolamo Pelletta commissioned the magnificent outer portal of the south entrance to the Cathedral, which also bears the family coat of arms.
Natta tower
Corner of Via Natta/Via Milliavacca
Connected to the House of the Natta family , the tower acted as a defensive structure. The covering is the result of later intervention. The Nattas, lords of Tonco and Alfiano, appear in the history of Asti up to the 14th century and count among their members two eminent jurists: Giorgio (15th century) and Marco Antonio (16th century).
Verasis - Asinari Palace
22, Via Natta
The medieval structure (12th-13th century) is visible in the portal arch and the arches of the windows (also in the courtyard) and may be clearly distinguished from later interventions (15th-16th century) characterized by the Guelf cross-shaped windows flanked by slender spiral columns, elaborately worked, and, in the courtyard, the arcade with its important Renaissance capitals. The Asinaris, a Ghibelline family, had banks in Avigliana, France, Switzerland and Germany from the 14th to the 16th centuries. The building currently houses the Civic Music School "G. Verdi".
Falletti Palace
corner of the Via Giobert / Via Natta
Severe medieval building which underwent subsequent interventions. Magnificent portal in Via Giobert (the ancient "Rue de la Madeleine" according to the Napoleonic street names) with typical decorations of candelabra and roses. On the corner of Via Giobert and the ancient city-walls (later demolished) there was once the Church of St. Mary Magdalene with the attached Dominican monastery.
