Palace of the Cistercians and Church of Our Lady of Consolation and St. Theobald
Corner Via Hope/Via Orfanotrofio

The main body of the building in Baroque style (architect G. Antonio Sevalle, about 1725) forms part of the Cistercian monastery to which the nearby church also belongs. Magnificent choir stalls and rococo altar.

Pergamo Palace
Via Orfanotrofio

The architectural elements in Gothic style belong to the palace which was once the property of the Pergamo family.

State Archives
corner of Via Orfanotrofio/Via Morelli

The historical documents of public bodies and private archives, including those of the Roeros of Settime, are conserved here. Of great importance are those documents dating from the 15th century when Asti was under French government (the "Orleanese accounts"). Opposite the Archives building there is the so-called "Palazzo Magno", thought to have been the residence of the Viscontis in the 15th century, when Asti was the dowry of Valentina Visconti, bride to Louis of OrlŽans, brother of King Charles VI of France. In the church of St. Sylvester there are some important paintings by Michelangelo Pittatore of Asti (19th century).
